Why do Anthropic and OpenAI think it necessary to split their model into 4 versions (Opus, Sonnet, Fable, Haiku, Astra, Sol, Luna, Terra) vs. Google's 2 (Argon, Flash)?

Google has flash-lite, too. I liked OpenAi's scheme better, as long as it is parallel and makes sense.

More choice is better?

Luna, Terra, Sol, Astra - are a good setting tweak on how much you want to spend vs what you want to get out of it.
