Sadly it only works on Chromium based browsers apparently. So much for the open web feels like flash and java of years gone by

At the end of my "tech career" developers intoxinated with youtube tutorials and medium articles were writing stuff only for Chrome. After my comments that it fails in Firefox, everyone knew I'm the toxic non team player.

For now, yeah. Other browsers are still in progress: https://x.com/omonkeyzz/status/2115032697227854009

Weird I vaguely recall even if you enable experimental chromium features it's single thread only + webGPU doesn't fully utilize your GPUs capabilities. How this is possible that you can play a AAA game with chrome? Is it that this game isn't as computationally intensive since it's an older game or something else?

Don't waste your time on Firefox/Safari: it will download 1GB of assets before failing to load.

This is also doable via GeForce Now (I think - it’s been years since I tried doing it, but IIRC I was in chrome on an iPhone.)

GeForce Now has it running on an NVIDIA server and then it streams the video to your device.

How is this website doing it?

I tried this in Firefox and Chrome on Linux, and neither worked.

Can someone explain how games this size are ported?
[–] pickleballminec 2 days ago
From what I know, developers use tools like Emscripten to compile the game's C++ source code into WebAssembly.

executables are very small in comparison to assets. you just decode the exe, transpile it to c, recompile again to wasm and viola!

you still need oryginal game to play

if u have the original game why on earth would u want to get a web browser involved? is there some benefit?m

Because they can. Why do people write new programming languages or operating systems when we already have more than we 'need'?

fair point. cyberpunk runs so slow on my pc that id expect running it in a browser will litterally make it cry. but i suppose i have a modernday potato to do stuff on :')
