Naively, I would think that if you do invent new verbs, you're still going to hit the classic verbs more frequently, right? You could look in a slower, dynamic map after ruling out the classic verbs and still see a performance win if requests for classic verbs dominate your request pattern. Depending on use case, you could add your invented verbs to the fast set, too; it'd require a recompile, but if you're using this tool then you're already compiling your web server (or a plug-in to it) so I don't see that as a huge barrier.
