I mean, it'd be pretty easy to speed it up by 10x — just need to drop backwards compat and do away with the ridiculous runtime dynamicism that is only truly useful for <%1 use cases.

But yeah, clearly nobody's willing to rip off the bandaid, so that's not happening.
