1. Improved thermal system

2. Even better speakers

3. Thinner and lighter while retaining the 100 Wh battery

4. No more notch

Seems like a solid all-around update to be. Other than cellular, I can't possibly imagine what more people could want.

I don't know why there's all this talk about putting cellular in MacBooks. Tethering between macOS and iPhone is practically seamless and even to Android it's not difficult. Where are people going with their laptop and not their phone?

As someone who has cellular in their work laptop, it is just that bit more seamless. Hotspotting also drains the battery on my device substantially.

In addition to what others said tethering adds a small amount of latency that's noticeable on things like ssh and rdp.

Tethering uses up the phone's battery when you're not even using it. And you're still going to use it.

replacing the notch with a hole punch isn't much of an improvement for me anyway. it still kills the top quarter inch of the display for non-letterboxed movies, games etc. I'm tempted to replace my Air with a Neo just to have a non-punctured screen.

Mac displays are 16:10, you're getting letterboxing for movies no matter what you do, with or without a notch or hole punch.

Mac displays are actually taller than 16:10, but that extra space is consumed by the notch. This makes the effective area of the screen 16:10.

I find it witty than the removal of the notch is seen as great progress. Why was it even there in the first place? My 2012 Macbook has no notch.

we're back to celebrating the pursuit of thinner and lighter again? Things really have fallen off.

Lighter is quite important in a macbook for plenty of users including me. Thinner not so much, but the overall decrease in size is welcome as well.

It's a tick tock cycle between weight and power, always will be

I really really want cellular though, sick of the still flaky hotspot integration and just want to open my screen and be online.
