I ran Emacs for ~25 years with almost no custom configuration. I could not be bothered, and the defaults were great
In the last decade I have started to add configuration. When GPT-3 became available, and I did not have to learn Elisp (another f%^&*n computer language - with no other use) I have extensively configured my Emacs
My point is it is very usable with no config
DHH recently said that despite hating Rust, he recently wrote a program he needed in Rust by handing the task to AI, and that the alternative was him having to spend nine months to learn the language.
