Going back much further in history, the involvement of the Gungans to help break the siege of Naboo mirrors the Yemeni Houthis joining the Iranians to resist the US blockade.
As I understand it, the U.S. President engaged in an agreement with the Houthis for mutual non-agression, explaining our refusal to assist the House of Saud and greater Arabia.
