I stopped posting questions onto Stack Overflow after experiencing two user-hostile practices of theirs.

The first was how they would repeatedly mark my posts as dupes when in reality they weren't. Sure, my questions had large overlaps with existing questions. But mine had sufficient nuanced differences that my questions warranted being open.

The second is how they would repeatedly rewrite my posts. And extensively so! It no longer sounded like it was written by me. And any sense of warmth or humanity of my posts were entirely stripped away! So sterile and cold. I have to tell you, having a post that you spend time composing, only to have some moderators a-hole rewrite it is a very negative feeling. And to see a message posted publicly to the web with my username next to it, as though I'm the one that wrote it, is wrong.

Stack Overflow brought their death to themselves.

The problem was that you would get points as an editor, so people would just rewrite everything even when it didn't it.

This would only happen if you had less than 2k points or less than 500 accepted suggestions. Most edits that are suggested aren't total rewrites because the reviewers are against those, even when it does elevate them

I had forgotten about that. I also had some of my questions rewritten by other users. That felt so ridiculous. If there is something to add, add in a comment? Why is anyone even able to rewrite what others wrote? Who thought this was a good idea?

Comments are not for extended discussion. The important relevant information that was here has been moved to a confusing different page where it will never be seen again.

And yet I often tried to edit questions or answers to fix broken formatting and was blocked because I changed too few characters! Only major edits allowed!

I didn't know this was a thing until now. This is so stupid
